Monday Night Portrait Drawing
16" by 20" on pastel board. Not one of my favorites. I was having a lot of trouble with it, maybe because I haven't drawn in a few weeks. Saul, who was sitting next to me, helped out by loaning me a view finder. I didn't like the head view from my angle but did like the overall pose. I was able to get it all in because I was working larger than I have been lately. I should have been standing to get some distance from the picture. I had some good colors for awhile but lost them. The model was Tom O'Connell. Jerry, who owns the studio space we work in, met him at the Coffee Exchange where he finds a lot of our models.Saturday, March 12, 2011

Portraits
I entered the First three, today, in a juried portrait show at Wickford Art Association. They all got in and "Scott" got an honorable mention. I felt like it was unfinished but when I am drawing with other people they tell me I should stop. I took their advice on this one. I did 3 pictures in 3 hours. This was the 2nd one.
I didn't know about the show until just a few days ago. Maybe I could have done better if I had more time, but maybe not. I had to enter someting because portraits are what I do. I do them from live models at Jerry Puleo's place. Kate Huntington runs the group and hires the models.
